CENOTE DIVING

A Cenote (from Maya Ts'onot - a location with accessible groundwater) is a natural sinkhole resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. Yucatan Peninsula count over 6000 cenotes alone.

Cenotes are part of the cave systems and considered to be entrances to the systems. Unlike cave tunnels that sometimes stretch for dozens of kilometers cenotes are accessible to recreational divers and do not require specific cave training to dive them while offering the beauty of the caves.

Experiencing a cenote dive is a must for a diver traveling to this area. Nowhere in the world you can find such decorated cenotes with stalactites and stalagmites - beautiful formations of calcium salts.

We offer multiple cenote diving packages. You can select the one that suits you on our BOOK page.

All of our packages include: a cenote guide, transportation your place-cenote (within our normal pick-up area), bottled water, rental of diving equipment (except a dive computer), tanks and weights. What is not inlcluded: park entrance fee ( $15-$20 depending on a cenote) and any food/snack you would like to bring with you.

Some cenotes are horizonal and shallow. Some are vertical and deep. Deeper cenotes require an Advanced Open Water Certification or equivalent as a minimum to participate.
